REAL energy began a week prior. I must preface this year’s market with my favorite person from last year Fall, Ole Terr. I had to call to make up for how I Gumped into Market fame and became a fan. So, I called my knight in shining armor and asked him out for dinner. Yes. I am making up for what could have been a catastrophic err and he, being so gracious, took the call. Our last Jamilla’s Apple pick was the date. Pangaea. I called up Juan, the own, myself to make a great night for a great man, now a great buddy. Juan accepted our small party to our every want. A busy Terr was dined with a Beef Tartare and Scallops Rockefeller to start. Skipping the salad course, we headed into the main with a Paella for me and Seared Tuna for the gentleman. We opted for that richer wine because the South is on Time for our friend in from Florida. My date and he paid. Leave it to the guy three hours later over laughs and banter to end in style.

As we headed into Market week, I decided on a guest. A local friend, who is above all things an aficionado on good taste for both food and personal style as well as an announcer from popular radio in the US via Charlotte, accompanied me to the Veranda Magazine Kick-off at the Sherrill Showroom. Wine, laughs and conversation in a cool corner while others partied to hit classics in their business casual was nice, relaxed fun as buyers, designers, distributors, press and their guests rolled in from all over the world. As a precursor to The Met’s main event, we stopped by Eicholtz to check out the line. She LOVED it. No food. Maybe wine. But she was there to hear all about it. Thank goodness that I made their presentation last year so I got an education and could speak about it knowledgeably. Whew! Last year’s syllabus proved a win. I was introduced to Chomps Objects while waiting with my guest for my normal reservation at White and Wood where my buddy Jake entertained us at seating with sparkling wine. Perfect!

The most positively talked about event week in High Point Spring to Fall with the most stylish up close and personal. My excite. The Met. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, who made its Market debut in Spring ‘23 has concluded their collaboration with the famed Eicholtz for their new line unveiled this year. Classic meets the modern element of cool. The party was FAB! Get this... Mini burgers with special sauce and pickles and a Margarite. My World. Perfect for party glam in red, black and white at dusk. I ended my stay at the Market with a new adventure on Sunday to the Affies, the Association of Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Awards, where again I saw Ole Terr at cocktail hour waiting for the event to accompany a very famous honoree in the industry. Super-Secret Stuff.
