What stands out when lounging, the rooftop. The RoofTop @ The Durham atop the fabulous Art Deco boutique hotel that got our world debut with a credit in Southern Living as a must see a couple years back. I admit... Under a dryer at the salon is when I decided take the 45 minute tract to visit. While finding new ways to determine how the Turkey will perish, Carved after Roast, Surgically injected and Fried, or Devoured by its Wings and Legs Only; our pants have burst with all of the fixin’s and we are ready to spend a time out vowing never to think about the kitchen again except on that O’ Holy Night.

Let’s start. Seasonal Menu. I don’t like oysters, but they have THEIR full coast. However, the menu is wow with delectable Picnic Eggs, with your choice of Kimchi or fish roe on their version of Deviled Eggs. There is also a Steak Tartare that I absolutely loved that puts you in cilantro heaven served with... get this... crispy potato chips. Fingers-crossed that they are still on menu.

Now, once you have chosen The one or the only one food item that night, whichever smells best for a bite, time for drink. The drink menu is too killer for me describe. I can hit a homerun; however, it’s a classic one hence the Green Monster: Airmail (How Bout Prosec?... My Fave) with wines, liquers, whiskeys and a more than adequate bar exclusive.

The Coup de Gras, Blues. Downtown Durham has never looked so wonderful at dusk into the night with friendly seating for indulgent conversation. Covered, you may hear some of Durham’s best Blues bands by chair or table being in reality only when the staff attending give notice of the bill to laugh-filled banter to who’s paying the tab.

One New Year’s party where dinner is course to set, lobby for attendees only, and TheRoofTop@TheDurham; the entire hotel became the place to be for one night only with room. With no room at the Inn a month ahead, I had to get a room at the reputable 21c Museum Hotel Durham two blocks planning a month ahead. Numero Tres of a line out of the door spelled great humor as luck was on my side.

A half hour until midnight gave one comp from waitress on deck and this girl was in luck twice over as I was in as a grace after ordering one last champagne after great fun with my new friends for the night to The Countdown.

Year round, it’s a great place and Jamilla’s Apple pick for the holiday Fall. Not too Hot, Not too Cold, Just Right!
