Patti & Me: The Long and Short of It

SHE IS EVERYTHING! I was so blessed to attend the mighty diva's concert at The Fabulous Fox Theater in 1996 summer before Freshmen year. Yes. I was getting my feet wet in a new area, but had to make it with a then gal pal.

Even at 18, LaBelle was FABULOUS!! Because it has been 24 years since, I HAD to go to the album of greatest hits that was released that same year. Patti's Niche: The Woman Desperately in Love.

IF YOU ONLY KNEW how much we loved you. IF YOU ASKED ME TO, we would. SOMEBODY LOVES YOU BABY and it's us. ON MY OWN, we finally gave up.

The Song For Which We Wait:

OVER THE RAINBOW. Her R&B rendition, making me tearful as a little girl, of the perfect Judy Garland sent shivers into young adulthood. Now, she just makes me smile in awe. And surprisingly, it is the same listen to the same voice since LADY MARMALADE. How she has kept her voice, we still do not know. Absolutely nothing has changed. I must be in a word, charm.

Now the Good Part: On an old Arsenial tip, we know that hot sauce was in the purse. But also, The ‘Shoe Kick Off’ is real. Okay… Some of us have seen it on television. Howeva she ups the ante with a huge, stage worthy trunk of shoes. She kicks them off on her que. And we know what that is! When she goes Ginormous…. Then, she puts on another pair. When so inclined, she does a rinse and repeat. Off with them off again while she kicks the ballistics on what we love so much.. Her Voice. I know in my heart, this one will be no different. I wonder what the wonderful lady will do next.

Truth: She also has a pair for sale on eBay as well as a partnership with Sears & Roebuck and uBid.Com for 20 pairs of signed pumps (designed herself) for charity auction. She does not disappoint.

The Long and Short of It:

Due to COVID related restrictions on indoor gatherings, the May 22nd Patti LaBelle concert at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled date. Tickets are on sale now at TangerCenter.com and Ticketmaster.com.
